We are very pleased to announce the release of our newest addition to the OENO family...OENO VERMOUTH BLANCO & OENO VERMOUTH BLANCO SPRITZ
making OENO Vermouth Blanco
Amy Atwood Selections & Oeno Wines teamed up with the Santa Monica Mountains Farmstead to create OENO Vermouth Blanco. Our goal from the beginning was to produce a fresh and bright white vermouth that is unmistakably Californian in character. We accomplished this by sourcing the main ingredients close to Camarillo, California where the vermouth was produced. OENO Vermouth Blanco is a maceration of the pure zest of organic lemons and oranges from Ventura County California, the citrus capital of the world. We used 2018 Oeno Chardonnay as the vermouth’s base. We added hand-filtered infusions of Chamomile flower, white sage, hyssop, and mugwort to balance the strong, sunny California citrus flavors and give us the bitter edge we so appreciate in our favorite European white vermouths. A small amount of beet sugar was added to lead the vermouth into the off-dry category, mirroring some of our French go tos, and then fortified it with a spirit, distilled from locally sourced grapes. Every step in the process of producing this vermouth was done with love, by hand, and with care - from zesting to labeling. Please enjoy!
tale of the SPRITZ
We never set out to produce a canned spritz made from OENO Vermouth Blanco - but when 2 shiny silver cans mysteriously showed up with the first rounds of potential options - we were intrigued. Tomas Garabaldi (of Santa Monica Mountains Farmstead), whose love of spritzes came from fond memories of him and his grandfather sipping them next to the grill in Argentina, had sent some samples for us to try as a curiosity. We loved them and immediately made the decision to devote half of the production to a spritz. For the SPRITZ, the vermouth was mixed with reverse osmosis water to 7% ABV, filtered, then carbonated to 4 bars. Pour over ice and add your favorite garnish - we suggest lemon. Have fun!
